LENT............................................................?
I am Catholic and since Lent begins tomorrow, I will be giving up coffee, chocolate & candy (have been doing for years now) and adding no Chinese take out to that as well. Its my way of trying to eat better, cleanse the system I guess one could say.
So, is anyone giving up anything for Lent? What is it?
Answer: Lent is about giving up something that you depend on so you can learn to depend more on God. I am giving up Caffenine, because I depend on it to get me going in the mornings and through out the day, but since I am now giving this up I will be praying in the morning instead for God to get me through the day. Great Question! God Bless!!!

Why is there so much LENT built up behind my dryer?
I have alot of Lent built up behind my dryer, is that normal or is something not working right?
Sears hooked everything up when they installed my dryer. I have had it about two years and there is alot of Lent around the back and side of it now.
Answer: You need to clean the lint trap after every load. Any lint build up is a fire hazard, and should be swept up or vacuumed regularly.
You should have your dryer professionally serviced at least once a year to remove the lint buildup and also to clean out the vent.
I would be very concerned if lint was blowing out of the vent, or dryer, and I would contact sears ( if you have a service contract with them) or call an appliance repair service right away.
The lint buildup could be from airborne lint that occurs when you clean the lint trap, just vacuum it up and see how quickly it accumulates. If it is a very slow process of accumulation- that is normal, but if it builds up after just a few dryer cycles, then something is amiss.
At any rate you should have your dryer professionally serviced, to keep your dryer as safe as possible.

LENT???????????????????????????????????
i really dont know what to give up for Lent.. i need some help here thanks!!
Answer: I do not celebrate Lent, but I am reading a daily devotional I received while visiting Mass.
Lent is a time for conversion, not just giving something up for 40 days, then returning to it when Easter rolls around. At the AmericanCatholic website, there is a Friar who has some wonderful things to say about the Lenten season: "For most older Catholics, the first thought that Lent brings to mind is giving something up, as they did when they were children. For many children, the sweets or sibling arguments they foreswear during Lent start up again with zeal on Easter. This is understandable in children, but the rest of us should try to remember that Lent is about conversion, turning our lives more completely over to Christ and his way of life. Conversion means leaving behind an old way of living and acting in order to embrace new life in Christ."
Also, you need to be careful. Lent is about making a personal sacrifice to glorify our Lord. Making public your Lenton intentions is not in keeping with the spirit of Lent. Stay mindful of what our Lord said in the book of St. Matthew: "Take care not to perform righteous deeds in order that people may see them; otherwise, you will have no recompense from your heavenly Father."

What exactly is LENT and is it mandatory for all types of Christians to complete?
If a Christian does not do Lent, is it considered a sin and is there any punishment that he or she will get for that?
Also, what is the benefit of doing Lent for a Christian? What effect is Lent supposed to have on their life?
Answer: Lent is a period of fasting and repentance traditionally observed by Catholics and some Protestant denominations in preparation for Easter. The length of the Lenten fast was established in the 4th century as 40 days. During this time, participants eat sparingly or simply give up a particular food or habit. Ash Wednesday and Lent began as a way for Catholics to remind themselves to repent of their sins in a manner similar to how people in the Old Testament repented in sackcloth, ashes, and fasting (Esther 4:1-3; Jeremiah 6:26; Daniel 9:3; Matthew 11:21).
The purpose of Lent is to provide that purification by weaning people from sin and selfishness through self-denial and prayer, by creating in them the desire to do God’s will and to make His kingdom come by making it come first of all in their hearts.”
God bless you.

How would the purchase of debt LENT to Italy by Central Bank of Europe reduce its loan rates?
I read some excerpts from a report as quoted "Central Bank of Europe plans to buy the debt Lent to Italy so as to reduce the costs at which Italy seeks the loan".This is one of the measures to weaken the ill impact of economic crisis in Italy.
I want to know how this measure will work?
Answer: US budget provides 0.2 T for interest payments which is 20% of the total deficits. US debt has reached 14 T ie as much as their GDP and threefold their budget.
What I gather from your report is that, Central Bank of Europe will buy the debt from lenders and allow Italy to pay less interest. cost of a loan is defined as interest payable on it.

How is LENT and the temptations of jesus linked?
- How is Lent linked to the temptations of jesus?
- What do christians do today to remember Lent?
- Are there any organisations or groups associated with Lent?
- Do you think that christians are doing enough to help people who are less fortunate?
Thanks (:
Answer: -Lent lasts 40 days. Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness in prayer and fasting. This is the parallel.

-The Catholic church requires adult members to abstain from meat on Fridays of Lent and to fast and abstain from meat on certain days such as Ash Wednesday and God Friday.

How do you get LENT and hair out of laundry?
I line dry my laundry and get tons of Lent and dog hair out of the washer is there any way to remedy this? Is there something I can clean in my washer? I pull the drain hose every week and do a load of just bleach water and strain the top to help cut back on this, plus I do smaller loads than normal and severly sort things because perma press items are worse when washed with knit items. Please some advise. It shouldnt always be like this should it?
Answer: Always turn woolens and knit items inside/out when washing with other clothes and this will lessen the lint, you can also add one cup of White Vinegar to your rinse cycle instead of using fabric softner which you pay more for anyway, and vinegar is much less expensive and will clean your wash and make it less static cling it also lessens the lint and will soften your whole wash without added fabric softner, once you have done all your laundry with this solution you can then just add on your next laundry loads some vinegar to the rinse water just pour some in the fabric softner dispenser and it will keep the lint down for you.
Or you can use this idea in a dryer if you have a dryer, I know you said you line dry but this idea you can use if you do decide to use a dryer, Lint remover
Add a yard of nylon netting to your dryer with the wet clothes - it will catch most of the lint.
Good Luck !

Is the Triduum part of LENT or a separate liturgical season?
Is there a distinct break between Lent and the Triduum, or is the Triduum more of a subset of Lent? Ive heard both that Lent ends at the Mass of the Lords Supper on Holy Thursday and that it ends on Holy Saturday. Which is the case?
Answer: For Roman Catholics the Lenten season ends with the start of the Holy Thursday Mass beginning at sunset the Thursday before Easter Sunday.
Although Lent ends on Holy Thursday, Good Friday remains a day of strict fasting and abstinence. Catholics who are over the age of 18 and under the age of 60 are required to fast. Which means that they can eat only one complete meal and two smaller ones during the day, with no food in between. Catholics who are over the age of 14 are required to refrain from eating any food containing meaningful amounts of red meat.
There are also ancient traditions that dates to the first century that mandates no food is to be eaten on Holy Saturday or for 40 hours before sunrise on Easter Sunday. However, it has become more traditional to continue the sacrifices practiced during Lent (that ended on Holy Thursday evening) through Easter Sunday morning.
Because the Lenten period, the Triduum, and other rituals include food sacrifices, I believe that many consider all as one; with that one being more recognized as Lent. Therefore Easter Sunday is commonly and mistakenly believed to mark the last day of Lent.

How can we recover items LENT to a neighbor?
We Lent a neighbor a rather expensive ladder, after several attempts to get it back- via, verbally, email and phone messages, they just keep dodging or avoid the request all together. We have since moved and are not able to just drop by, yet have asked for it to be dropped off at our old house (which we still own) or have offered to have someone pick it up. What can we do? Is there anything legally that can be done?
Answer: If your emails and letters are being ignored, you can send again in writing that if you don't get your ladder back, you'll have no choice but to take civil action to either a) get your ladder back or b) the cost to replace it. If they still don't respond your only option then is to either follow through with the civil action or kiss the ladder goodbye.

What is the meaning of LENT and what is it meant to show us?
Serious answers only please.
Like if we break a Lenten promise, will we be punished or is meant to teach and show is something if we break that promise.
Catholics are the only ones that follow Lent, so that is why I ask. I know others do as well, but RCs usually follow the practises rather then observe as some other churches might.
Answer: Lent is seen as a time of preparation for Holy Week and Easter. While many do give up things, others do extra good deeds instead. There is no fault or blame or 'sin' involved if you do not follow your Lenten promise. You might have your own guilt to deal with, but that is it. A Lenten promise is something like a New Year's Resolution. The only person you hurt by Not doing it is you. But there is no outside punishment of any kind involved.

How do I PREMENTLY remove LENT from my clothes?
I have this pair of pants that I absolutley love. Well I love the look and feel of them, but hate the Lent that collects on them during the day. I always have to spend time removing the Lent before I wear them and before the end of the day they are covered again. I mean by lunch time I look a mess. I would love to know a permenant way to remove Lent from my clothes. Or just a way to keep Lent away for the whole day. Anyone?
Okay, sorry, LINT it is!
I will have to try the fabric softner, but i usually hate the feel of it. I guess I can deal with it, everynow and then just for these pants. I also already use the tape and lint brush, but I hate to constanly have to rub my AS! with tape at work! lol
They are 96% cotton and 4% spandex. I do not waer pantyhose under them. I have the mathing jacket, but never wear it because that is just too much tape and time, during the day.
Answer: Well for starters start washing them inside out and hanging to dry.. If you must dry them use bounce fabric softener/static guard.. Static Guard keeps things from being "attracted" to the material.. It's a spray and you can keep it with you at work.. Also, maybe keep a lint brush or clear packing tape with you at work so you can spot check your pants throughout the day.. Good luck...
