What exactly is legendary about GARY SPEED?
TBH, I didnt really watch much English football until recently so forgive me if this is common knowledge... anyway, why is he considered a legend? What were some great things he did in his career? How did he contribute to the sport after his playing career?
Answer: One of the best players to ever come from Wale, in his prime, had arguably the best left foot in the league, and was pretty suave with his right too. Could play just about anywhere, was a nice man, a kind man and a true professional, was rarely booked, was NEVER in the papers because of some stupid scandalous love affair or something.
The first outfield player to ever achieve 500 Premier League caps.
He captained Everton, did well at Leeds, helped Newcastle to two FA Cup finals and was part of our 02 Champions League campaign...
He went to Sheffield United, where he started his managerial career, before moving to coach his national team Wales.
He took them from well over 100th place in the World Rankings to the Top 50 in less than a year, a truly fantastic achievement.
He was awarded an MBE by Her Majesty the Queen for Services to Football.
In 677 domestic appearances he scored 103 goals as a midfielder.
Liked by just about everyone, loved by many. A true gentleman and a legend of the game.

Im devasted by the news of this great legend & wen sum1 told me today couldnt believe it.. He was on footy focus yesterday and seemed fine, anybody else think so??
Answer: If you look at the first 10 seconds of the video, you can tell by his body-langiage that something was up. It doesn't take a body-language expert to see that. I am worried about saying this for getting ppl angry, but I think he had a BIG problem in his life and it was going to come out sooner or later, so he ended it before he lived to suffer the pain. Idk why his wife found his body at 7am, though, that's also baffling. His agent said he WASN'T depressed and him and wife DIDN'T argue elading upto the death. We wont know til the Post-Mortem and I, (not nastily), am looking forward to finding it out so we can put rumours to rest.

How good was GARY SPEED in his prime?
BQ - if he could be compared to one footballer around today, who is around the same level as him.
Answer: Speed spent most of his career in central midfield. He was a real box-to-box player that could defend, but also attack.
He was extremely fit, athletic, strong and honest (he never once dived).
He wasn't spectacular, but he never made any mistakes and kept the game ticking over. He was superb in the air, and in the modern Premier League would have scored many more goals, due to the poor standard of defending.
If I were to compare him to anybody I would probably say Tim Cahill, but with a defensive edge. He was a much better tackler than Cahill.
How good was Speed in his prime? Champions League standard. He was in his prime when at Newcastle under Sir Bobby Robson. Two real honest gentlemen at the same club. He was brilliant at Newcastle and exceptional for Wales (this was the period when they beat Germany and Italy and drew against Argentina, and should have qualified for Euro 2004).
He was an inspirational captain and a great man.
He was the perfect professional.

Answer: We don't know he did. For example, a British MP was found hanging in most peculiar circumstances, and it turned out he had suffered a bit of an accident. (involving a cupboard and a wet suit and an orange and a bag of solvent or something).

Laredo ~ its not always suicide either. Quite often misadventure in such cases.
Answer: Can't discount the type of accidental death which is so embarrassing for the family and especially the children. Media are generally fairly respectful in such cases, I bet they will be keen to remain so, particularly in light of the current Public Inquiry.

Misadventure is a sub verdict associated with accidental death. Drowning in a public pool may well be an Accidental; drowning whilst trying to swim the Atlantic would be Misadventure. Neither is intentional but the former indicates some responsibility or folly on the part of the deceased.
Suicide is the unlawful and intentional taking of ones own life.
No word '"has found it's way" into either definition, they are separate and distinct findings.

If someone riddled with cancer committed suicide would you feel that way?Would you not be the selfish one expecting them to stay alive to further endure the unendurable.Was Garry Speeds pain any less real for being psychological?We're hard wired to fight for survival so common sense tells you something's badly wrong when death appears a blessed release.When you're in that place the balance of your mind has gone and normal considerations replaced with utter despair and a wish to relieve loved ones of the burden of your anguish and no doubt are past the point of being reasoned with.

I loved Speed as a player and he was a great servant for Wales.
But since going to Sheffield United hes played ugly football and got terrible results.

This is a RUMOUR that I have heard via some industry sources hence why I have set up this account today and wanted to see if anyone else had heard anything similar.

GARY SPEED; will the papers suicide stories give The Samaritans a chance to shine over the Christmas period?
Of course, they would have to gain permission from the Speeds to have pictures of Gary to use for posters, or the television, but I wonder if the Samaritans (or any other organisation) would do some harassing in order to get whatever message they have across to the public at certain parts of the year.
Answer: I think that the answer to your question would be NO. I think even the Samaritans would give the Speed family their privacy and show respect to them on the death of Gary.
I do know what you mean about advertising etc they always seem to have adverts on the television around Christmas time offering their help. It must be very sad that someone has to commit suicide because they believe that it is the only answer to their problems, so you can see why the adverts are on at Christmas time, because it is a lonely time for some people.
