How much does a tattoo of a CHINESE ZODIAC on my arm or back costs or what if I used only one of the zodiacs?
How much does a tattoo of the whole Chinese zodiac animal wheel on my arm or back costs or what if I used only one of the Chinese zodiac animals? And will it hurt?
Answer: Price depends on the size, how much detail there is, and how many colors. Each artist too has their own prices...someone who is just starting out will be cheaper than someone who is well known. Location will also determine price as well...Sturgis, SD during the bike rally will be higher compared to someone who lives in the backwoods of the Appalachian mountains. As for pain...the back will hurt much more...at least that's what it was for me.

Getting to Know You: CHINESE ZODIAC « Rebecca Enzor
Getting to Know You: Chinese zodiac. January 24, 2012 — Rebecca Enzor. Happy Lunar New Year everyone! Since yesterday was the lunar new year and this next year is the year of the Dragon (doesn't that sound awesome and badass?
In traditional chinese culture, could tattoos of your zodiac animal protect you from bad luck?
Generally if it is your year in the Chinese zodiac (this year being the tiger) it is your year for bad fortune and luck. And to combat this, traditionally your wear a jade necklace of your animal.
What if you get a tattoo of your animal? Would that protect you as well?
Answer: I'm not one for superstition, even if I do love Chinese culture, and to be honest I'm no fan of tattoos either, because they are permanent, when one day, one year, one decade after you engraved the tattoo and you regret it, there's no turning back, FOREVER, although I have no problem with people with tattoos or belief in superstition.
But I'd say no, traditionally jade necklaces are not lucky because of the engravings on them, but rather the jade itself is also a sign of prosperity of luck, as in ancient times only the wealthy were able to own precious jade, and superstition arose to believe that the jade attract all things positive, luck, fortune, jade is even believed to be able to protect you from evil spirits.
So look-wise, jade necklaces are not only more elegant and show-worthy than tattoos, like owning a gold watch than having one drawn on your wrist, but superstition-wise it is also more ... uhhh ... powerful against bad luck.

What is the purpose of the CHINESE ZODIAC?
Astrology and the like is a small interest of mine, and I admit (however wacko) that I do believe some of that star sign stuff does play in everyday life.
But what is the purpose of the Chinese zodiac? Do the animals represent different traits?
For example I am Aquarius- astrology wise that would give me certain personality traits.
But as far as the Chinese zodiac goes Im a horse- is it the same concept with astrology?
Answer: Chinese astrology is the divination of the future from the Chinese calendar, which is based on astronomy, and ancient Chinese philosophy. In particular, it is based on the age-old sexagenary cycle of 60 years that has been documented at least since the time of the Shang Dynasty. This basic cycle has been constructed from two cycles: the 10 heavenly stems (the five elements in their yin and yang forms) and the 12 earthly branches, or the 12-year cycle of animals referred to as the Chinese zodiac. The Chinese animal zodiac also operates on a cycle of months or 'moons' and of hours of the day.
The Chinese zodiac refers to a pure calendrical cycle; there are no equivalent constellations like those of the occidental zodiac. In imperial times there were astrologers who watched the sky for heavenly omens that would predict the future of the state, but this was a quite different practice of divination from the popular present-day methods.

I am pregnant and the baby is due in February of 2012 which is when the Chinese zodiac changes from rabbit which is what I am, to a dragon. I was curious if there were any common physical characteristics to dragon people. Or people born in February? Thank you!
Answer: You are asking about "physical characteristics" of people of dragon sign. So here it goes:
If you line up 12 people each with a different animal sign, you won't be able to identify who is of which sign.
When you have the full birth info of Year, Month, Day, and Time, we can tell who has more "elements" of Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth. E.g. some people are Wood heavy and lack of Earth. Some people have a balance of multiple elements.
In the case of Chinese Ba Zi, the Day Master of the the Day Pillar is the core. It has more significance than the birth year elements.

How does the Western zodiac intersect with Chinese astrology?
Im curious if anyone out there is a bit of an expert on both Western and Chinese zodiac signs; how do they interact when trying to read a horoscope?
Bonus: I have a friend who is a Taurus and a Dragon, two signs which are roughly equivalent... so what are the implications of such a "double shot"?
Answer: It's a bit like the difference between Western Medicine and Eastern. Micro and Macro.
Chinese astrology is societal based, what is the impact of the individual on society and how to be a better citizen, member of the group.
Western astrology is ALL about the individual and the journey to become your authentic self.
They are both useful for different aspects of your life.
Am I an expert? No. But I study Western Astrology and am a very intuitive Pisces born in the year of the Dog, so I draw large conclusions. :-)

What is our love compatibility in terms of the CHINESE ZODIAC?
My date of birth is: 4th March 1987
My fiances date of birth is: 13th October 1988
Our daughter was born: 13th February 2008
What does that mean in terms of the Chinese zodiac?
Thanks :D
Answer: first, you should transfer the date into lunar calendar --- one kind of old traditional calendar but still is popular in China:
you: 4th March 1987 --> 5/2/ Rabbit (dd/mm/yy)
your fiance: 13th October 1988 --> 3/9/ Dragon
your daughter: 13th February 2008 -->7/1/ Rat
According to the year when you born, you can think:
you are a rabbit, and your fiance is a dragon (cool !), and your daughter is a rat (the same as my daughter)
There is no conflict between you so you are all compatiable, congratulation!
Chinese believe the born date (including detailed time) can decide one's life, some like the western astrology. And they use 12 kinds of animals represent the years one was born circularly. So you have the same zodiac with those elder or younger than you 12 years.
Of course, you can see Dragon and Rabit can live peacefully, which means compatible,;but not Dog and Rooster (such as my wife and me), which we call it conflict. Oh, don't think dragon and dog according to western imagination. Dragon is mighty but not evil, but dog is not so friendly, they are fierce and menacing in Chinese culture.
