who do you guys think will win the Australian open on the mens and womens sides.
lol. federer is definettly dominating, but im definetly over him. he gets on my nervess
Answer: Do we have any choice for the mens side? It's either going to be Roger Federer or Roger Federer, either way, Roger Federer is going to win a lot of money. I don't pay enough attention to predict who'll win the women's side tho, maybe henin
Edit:
Over him? How come? Other players that might have a glimmer of hope i think are: Nadal and Roddicks' serve and the guy that starts with a "D", i can't spell

Going to Melbourne during the AUSTRALIAN OPEN, what areas should I look for a hotel in?
Going to be in Melbourne for a weekend during the Australian open and the CBD hotels are all in the $300 range. Is there another area/suburb I should look in that is close by train to all the sites of Melbourne?
$300 over 4 nights is just too expensive.
Answer: Try Melbourne bed and breakfasts or guest houses. There are some really nice ones. Georgian Court in East Melbourne and Hotel Claremont in South come to mind. You will have a much better time in Melbourne if you stay in the city or one of the nice inner city suburbs (Carlton, Parkville, East Melbourne, South Melbourne, Southbank, Richmond) than staying miles out in some suburban area with nothing much to do. Another idea is serviced apartments. Some of the colleges at Melbourne University rent out there rooms over the sumner break - they might be average rooms but Parkville is a nice area right next to the city.

What have been the best matches of the AUSTRALIAN OPEN?
Well, the Australian open is coming to a close, and the section will be dormant until Indian Wells..But even though everybody I rooted for in each match got out (or at least it seems that way) there have been fantastic matches. Which have been the best for you. Men and Women of course.
Answer: Okay I'm going to have to call upon my memory in order to remember back to the first rounds now for the interesting matches:
Youzhny vs. Gasquet - Even though it ended with one of my favorites falling, it was still a great match full of drama, wonderful finesse between two great one-handed backhands, and yet another 5 set comeback against Gasquet...
Blake vs. Del Potro - Lol you couldn't have been too happy with this one, and I wasn't really able to see any of it, but considering the scoreline and the players in it this surely had to be one heck of a match to watch with all of the power. On the positive side if Blake can challenge Del Po that much then he must be feeling good.
Dementieva vs. Henin - OMG, this match was absolutely ridiculous, I thought it would be 3 sets up and down for both players but damn they proved me wrong with two fantastic sets, had it gone to a third it would have surely broken the 3 hr 33 min mark for longest ladies' match at the Australian open. Sadly Dementieva lost =(
Verdasco vs. Davydenko - Not always the best quality tennis, but when they were both on there were some really fantastic points! Not to mention the tension as Verdasco climbed back up to even the match at 2 sets-all only to lose it in a match which really took a lot of Davydenko for his match with Federer
Tsonga vs. Almagro - Didn't get to watch this, but again, it seems to me that this one was pretty epic with some super amazing points and another climb back (why couldn't Almagro WIN????? Lol Novak could have made it through to the semis regardless of his stomach infection if he had played Almagro.
Roddick vs. Gonzalez - Pretty entertaining, looked like Roddick was going out here but he endured and it seemed like Gonzalez gave it up in the fifth set
Cilic vs. Del Potro - In another match of the giants these two played another great match with the Croatian giant stomping on the Argentinian giant.
Nadal vs. Murray - This match was having some super ridiculous rallies with each showing off some of the best of their offensive and defensive games, sadly Rafa retired from it claiming his knees are still in pain!
Djokovic vs. Tsonga - Had me on my seat the entire time, Djoko had some chances to take the first set but between some of his costly errors and Tsonga's amazing winners he was able to take the tiebreaker. Djokovic fought hard and claimed the 2nd and it looked like he would run away with the match after he won the 3rd set 6-1, but then he threw up and it went downhill from there...
Henin vs. Wickmayer - Battle of the Belgians which forced out some good tennis from both of them, although to be honest while I'm searching through the draw I can't think of any good matches from the ladies' side in the earlier rounds.
Williams vs. Azarenka - Really showed Serena's fight at its best coming back from 4-0 in the second set after playing a horrible set of tennis to hand Azarenka the first 6-4. She really turned her game on here and completely overpowered and dominated Victoria.
So even there are only 3 matches left, hopefully they will all be super amazing (looking forward to the Serena - Justine match, hopefully that will be good), although whatever happens I'm really hoping that Murray does not win the Aussie Open...Looking forward to the rest of the 2010 season now!
Oh yeah, Mexi's right, I did kind of forget the Baghdatis vs. Ferrer match which was impressive for Baghdatis considering he was able to come back against Ferrer who we all know fights really hard, and for the Li Na vs. Serena Williams match I think it had just happened so when I typed this answer up I hadn't been able to see the scoreline and all of that.

Do you think getting an AUSTRALIAN OPEN membership is worth it?
I was thinking about getting it for 2011 especially for the access to tickets before general public sale for series packages and all single sessions including finals for the Australian open 2011. Its $69 for an indivdual membership and was wondering would it be worth it...? Im a huge tennis fan and love the Australian open.
Answer: I live in Melbourne and I don't know if that would be worth it. Of course you can access front row seats but I just go on the one of the first three days and really walk around there's so much activity and its much cheaper. If you can get access to a box with this membership go for it.

Do i have a good chance of becoming AUSTRALIAN OPEN Ball kid?
I really want to become a ball kid in the 2011 Australian open. I am 14, tall, i have good hand eye co-ordination and i can throw and catch well. I am always fit (able to run 5km continuous at a fast pace) and I am in the school Athletics team as a sprinter. I am in tennis squad and i know the basic rules of scoring. Do i have a good chance in becoming a ball kid?
Answer: In order to be a ball kid, you need to be fit, patient and from what I've heard, you need to know how to at least play tennis. Of course you don't need to be a pro at playing, but at least you could hit the ball.
So yes, you do have a pretty good chance.

What games are on the outside courts at the AUSTRALIAN OPEN, while the quarter finals are on?
Im flying to Melbourne for the Australian open but I can only go for one week. I would like to be there for the finals for the atmosphere but Im afraid I wont get to see any other games. Because I cant afford to get tickets to the Rod Laver Arena, only ground passes. Should I go first week to see more players play. Has anyone else been in this situation?
Answer: The past two years I have been to the Australian open in the first week and I am going again next year because I think it is great. In the first week the Rod Laver tickets are cheaper and during the day you get to see three matches and when I've been they have all been great quality matches.
On the Wednesday of the first week the doubles begins and that is always exciting. But the atmosphere is great in the first week, that's why I keep going and it is also cheaper.
