I know it is illegal in Scotland to park on the wrong side of the road but does this law exist in England.

How do you get into the Traffic Police in the UK. Scotland pref.?
Thanks.
Answer: You must start off as a PCSO (Police Community Support Officer) for two year's. Within these two year's you can valuable street wise training, and you can also go on courses for the attachment's you choose you follow after these two year's. For example, if you wanted to go into the firearm division, your going to take the available firearm courses, your not going to take police dog training courses, are you. In your case, you would obviously take traffic courses, so after the 2 year's you have a greater chance at getting into this division.

how much i can expect for severe knee injury by a road traffic accident.?
This head on collision (RTA) happened on 12/8/07 in Inverness, Scotland, UK and I was the restrained driver. Police and Ambulance came shortly. The other driver took the liability. My knee patella was broken badly. Consequently I never ever can bend my knee more than 45 degree. I cannot kneel down. I have to walk slowly. I cannot wear my socks my self! According to doctor they may go for another surgery within 8/9 months. Also they warned me in my old age I may suffer from Arthritis. I am also suffering from back pain. However I am not UK citizen. So after one year I have to leave UK. In my country we don’t have enough facility for knee treatment and probably have to travel another country for better treatment. Will the other insurance company consider this and pay extra since I am from Bangladesh? Thanks in advance for your comment.
Answer: I am in the US , so I don't know the laws over there. I'd say your best move would be to contact an attorney from the uk and then your country. Consultation is usually free. Good Luck and feel better!

How long can police prosecute you for Road Traffic Offence (Scotland)?
I was caught speeding in Oct last year for apparently doing 45mph in a 30mph hour zone. I have not paid the FPN and would like to know how long the Procurator Fiscal has to actually serve a notice of intended prosecution? I am in Scotland and appreciate it may be different up here to England.
Answer: Why did you not pay it, if you are waiting for the PF to appoint a court date you must have disputed the fact that you were not speeding? It depends how many other cases the PF has that are more important. If you need a Disclosure Scotland (CRB) it will be on your record forever.? Your lawyer should be able to advise you better on the waiting time.

Would you like to know what the Scottish words mean especially if you are coming to Scotland ?
Language
Hoots man, see you Jimmy, its a braw bricht moonlicht nicht the nicht, och aye the noo.
We look to Scotland for all our ideas of civilisation
Said - Voltaire and Suzie s
While quizzing visitors to Scotland, language appeared in the top ten answers, not because of Gaelic or Scots but due to a genuine problem with understanding what locals were saying. Visitors have on occasions thought fast-spoken residents were speaking Gaelic (pronounced gallic).
By the eleventh century Gaelic, a tongue originating from Ireland, was becoming a dominant language in Scotland. However, by the sixteenth century it was confined to the northern and western areas. A new law was passed in 1695, encouraging the setting up of English Schools in the Highlands. This regulation was a clear attempt to dissuade people from using the language. In recent years theres been an upsurge in people learning the Gaelic.
A helpful guide for visiting tourists:
If someone offers you a Glasgow kiss, refuse. (Its a less than charming expression for head butting.)
A free house does not mean the drinks are free. (Its a pub not owned by a brewery.)
Steamboats doesnt mean ships driven by steam. (Its an expression of drunkenness.)
A square go is not a boxed set of traffic lights. (Its someone asking you for a fight.)
A fag is not a gay person. (Its a cigarette.)
Lifted by the police doesnt mean raised in the air. (It means arrested.)
Being knocked up doesnt mean becoming pregnant. (Its a term used to awaken someone from his or her slumber.)
A Highland fling has nothing to do with extra-marital relations up north. (Its a Scottish dance.)
Being called hen does not mean you look foul. (Its a term of endearment.)
A nappy is not a napkin for wiping your mouth. (Its a diaper.)

Did You Know?
The words of exclamation, surprise or disgust "Great Scot!" originated in America. The words refer to General Winfield Scott (1786 -1866) - possibly due to his notorious fussiness and pomposity as a presidential candidate.
The lowlanders had their own language Scots, an offshoot from old English mixed with many European influences. The dilution of Scots was hastened by the Union of the Crowns in 1603, when James VI moved his court to London and by the Union of the Parliaments in 1707, when English became the language of Government. At school, "speak properly" meant "speak English". Thankfully the culling was not fatal and large chunks of Scots remain within our diction. Not only that, the lingo seems to be evolving within our own brand of English like any other living vernacular. The posh Scot thinks sex is what the potatoes are delivered in.

Charity to assist trafficked sex workers in Scotland or the UK?
I would like to raise money for a charity that assists people who have been trafficked into the UK as sex slaves. However I cannot find a charity for this issue. I am unable to do this for those working in prosititution in general because the money will be raised via my place of work and they have told me this isnt possible.
If you know of any charities or projects please let me know!
Thanks.

Do I have a Case When A product Is Illegal but didnt say, And I get fined for using the Product?
Hi, I got pulled by the traffic police in Scotland in the UK for having coloured headlight bulbs. they are slightly green, a bit blue, and white. Anyway, I got a £30 on the spot fine, but obviously I can challenge it.
Do I have a case because the package the bulbs came in DID NOT say "for off-road use only" on it?
I said to the police that if they were illegal, they have to say so on the packet. Also, I asked the woman at the BP garage I got them from if they were illegal, and she said that she didnt think so because it didnt say.
Can I fight this on the grounds that I wasnt aware they were illegal and that the product didnt have a warning?
In addition, Im not even sure they are illegal, they arent pure green/blue, its only a hint of the colour. The police said that it has to be approved first, but shouldnt I still have a case that I wasnt aware?
Answer: The highway code clearly states that only white light can be shown from the front of the vehicle, I agree that you weren't in serious transgression of that, and the police were overzealous but the only chance you have is if you get some doctor to write a letter saying you are partially colour-blind, then the plausability argument holds some strength, i.e. how were you to know the garage stocked illegal bulbs.

can you skip through traffic on a motorcycle in Canada.?
I grew up in scotland and see people on bikes all the time just go down the side of all the cars in the traffic jam, instead of waiting in line. I dont see it here in canada. Can you still do it. whats the rules? or is there even any
Answer: Once on a trip across the top of Lake Huron, we came upon a long line of cars stopped for an accident. Naturally we filtered to the front of the line, but a cop waved us over to the side and made us wait until all the cars had gone. So I guess it's a no-no.
Filtering through stopped traffic is not the same as lane-splitting moving traffic. Even lane-splitting is illegal here, I still consider filtering to be a legitimate tactic. No cop ha ever pulled me over to tell me otherwise, and on the road, I always ride to the head of the line at construction stops to chat with the flag girl and get ahead of the trucks and Winnebagos in the mud. But not in Canada.
