Answer: I am not a big opera fan, but my favorite Rossini opera is the Barber of Seville. I especially like the first act. The second act is not as good as the first in my opinion, but still good. I also like the Italian Girl in Algiers Overture, the Thieving Magpie Overture, and (of course) the William Tell Overture. I guess my favorite opera of all time is the Barber of Seville. As far as the Google doodle is concerned, it was OK I guess. I just did not understand the significance of the frogs. I think it would have been better with people instead of frogs. That is just my opinion, however.

Answer: Since you related to "The Lone Ranger", you might like to know what music was used on either side of its Intermission.
It was Franz Liszt's "Les Preludes". It's about 12-13 mins. long, a real orchestral "war horse": and in my opinion, the best thing he ever wrote.
You'll recognize the Lone Ranger intermission music, about 2-3 mins. into it.

How long is the opera "William Tell"?
Approximately how long is the uncut version of Gioachino rossinis opera "Guillaume Tell (William Tell)"? I have heard conflicting times, including "over four hours"; "nearly five hours"; and "roughly six hours". I am inclined to believe the third time, but could someone confirm this for me?
Answer: Four hours easily ... probably for and a half or five.
It's in four acts, so it's intermissions of ten to fifteen minutes could get you to six hours.
... I doubt if you'll see it; nobody seems to want to run it because of the length. Recordings are readily available, though.
