Baldwin Files S.E.C. Report
The Baldwin-United Corporation filed a 10-K report with the Securities and Exchange Commission yesterday, one business day later than the financially troubled company had promised earlier this month. However, according to a report by the Dow Jones News Service, Baldwins outside auditors qualified its 1982 financial statements because of pending litigation and the uncertain outcome of some income tax matters. While confirming that the filing was made, spokesmen from Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co., the companys accounting firm, and Baldwin would not comment on the news report.
Market Place;The Loews Warrants
THE warrants of the Loews Corporation offer one of the more interesting features in the current market. Issued in conjunction with the acquisition by Loews of the Lorillard Corporation in November 1968, the warrants, which expire on Nov. 29, are among the older rights outstanding. Actively traded, they are currently priced at 59 1/2. Viewed superficially, that price would seem out of line. For each warrant can be used to purchase a share of Loews stock at a price of $40. Why, then, are traders paying an additional $19.50?
